a little slice of life for ya

I took exactly 4 pictures on our trip to Yellowstone National Park this weekend.
So proud of myself right about now. So proud.
But in case you need a good laugh,
here is a fancy-schmansy little outfit Tyboy found in one of the closets at his grandparents cabin.
Pretty much had me rollin' on the floor laughing.
 These are Tyler's sweet parents all the way from Missouri. They were so much fun to traipse through the wilderness with. I tell ya what, our little buns got a workout trying to hunt down the best geysers.
 Doesn't Ty look so happy to be wearing pants on a smoking hot day?
{That smile looks a little forced if you ask me. Just sayin'.}
 And, since Old Faithful just decides to blow whenever she darn well pleases, we didn't get to see her.
But, I obviously thought this thing was neat enough to occupy space on my memory card.
 And there are our four weekend pictures.
Bet ya feel like you have had the whole Yellowstone experience now, huh?

ten-forty-five

I would just like to say I am very proud of myself on this fine morning.
I have accomplished exactly 3 things and it is only ten forty-five.
First, I wrote a paper. The LAST ONE of the semester. I tell ya what, if nothing else comes from being an English major, I can at least b.s. a whole paper in nothin flat.
Second, I went for a little neighborhood run. And just about died. Three weeks without exercise does not make for a pretty sight. The whole time I was calculating how far it is back to our house, thinking if I made it there it would be a dang miracle. I cannot imagine what the people driving by were thinking of that little sweat ball jogging down the sidewalk.
Third, I would like to most proudly announce that I have organized my craft area. And I wish I woulda taken a picture of the "before" because then you would realize what a large feat this is.
{Really, we couldn't even use the kitchen before.} And that husband of mine, he never complained one time about what a disaster it was. Although, I know he was silently wondering if our kitchen table would be visible again. This kind of situation helps him realize the necessity of my own craft room {craft apartment?} in our home someday. Did I say necessity? I mean it.
In other news,
this will be me and Tyboy's first weekend apart since we have been married.
It's going to be a strange feeling going to Salmon without him. Makes me wonder how we survived two months apart last summer. Oh geez, listen to me. I'm such a baby.
We are going to be just fine.

Wednesday, July 20

We are partying around this joint right now

{Except not Ty, he has one more test.}
All I can think about are the rock songs my dad used to sing to me when school let out for the summer. "We don't need no education" and "School's out for summer..." Both are seeming quite applicable on a day such as this. {You may or may not want to experience the wannabe dance moves he puts with it.}
Good grief...the last two weeks have been nothing but homework and tests.
And performing very important secretarial duties at work. And crafting. And cleaning.
You have to do these things when your mother-in-law is coming to town.
You know, show her you are taking good care of her boy and stuff.
And not cooking. And not blogging. But we did go swimming. And it was a rather splendid afternoon.

Pretty sure Chug and I had never laughed so hard in our lives as when this was going on...

 But somehow it's not as funny when you're the one with a whole person on your shoulders.
You can imagine how long this lasted. Mmmm...maybe 2 .009 seconds.
If that.
 It appears I have much more time on my hands now that I'm not writing papers about William Blake.
And making dumb design portfolios on InDesign.
And reading 37582 pages every night before bed.
And memorizing the functions of the brain.
And, that's enough.
We're gonna party the rest of our summer away now, k?
{Maybe blog a little too.}

I would just like to share this today

because it is quite possible that finals week will be the death of me.
and everyone should remember that it's true.

a special celebration

Meet Grandma and Grandpa Stoddard.
They just had their birthdays this week.
Might I add, 97th and 95th birthdays.
We celebrated with them last night at a Chinese restaurant in town.
No matter the ocassion, Grandma still dolls herself up.
She was looking pretty fancy last night with her pearl necklace and sparkly shirt.
And Grandpa loves showing off the fancy birthday cards he received. They truly are amazing.
It's crazy to think they have been married nearly 76 years. What a beautiful life they have created together. Sometimes I wonder if Ty and I will someday get to say that we have been married for over seventy years...that seems like lifetimes away. And I guess it is, in a way.
Just goes to show you what working hard, taking care of yourself, and living right can do for the soul. We love you guys!

Today I miss days like this...

'Cause a chocolate slip n' slide in the sunshine makes for one of those carefree, childhood days.
And I am in need of one of those right about now.

Saturday, July 9

What to do when husband's gone fishing:

-Feel sorry for yourself for about .05 seconds. Then think, "hey, I can do whatever I want today. So I will." Dangerous decision Tyboy made to leave me with a debit card and a free Saturday, dangerous decision.
-Shop. By yourself. Till you drop. And probably find some smokin' deals...like 75% off almost everything at Old Navy.
-Get an extra large DP at Sonic with extra lemons and extra ice. {and listen to the angels singing}
-Paint your toenails. Because no doubt they look disgusting.
-Shop. (This time at craft store.)
-Watch 30481 episodes of Grey's Anatomy.
-Do a little homework. 'Cause you're responsible like that.
-Make a baby blanket for new bebe niece(?)/nephew(?) that should have entered the world 9 days ago. Meanwhile, realizing that sewing is most assuredly not your forte.Maybe I will let him go fishing more often...?

Now we're livin'

Here we are at one of our favorite places in the world. The place of many sunburns, seaweed, fried chicken, and water up the nose. Isn't it fab?And here is captain Orr...the driver of the boat.
And the co-captain, Tyboy.
{He's pretty sexy on waterskis too.}These are the sufferers of severe whiplash caused by the innertube. It's really not as funny as everyone thinks it is when you fly off and drink half the lake.
This is Bob. She is oolllldddd. She's a princess and it is likely that my dad loves her more than his own children. Sad, I know. "Bob's a person too" he says.
{Sometimes he argues that she is more understanding than all the people he knows. I beg to differ.}
{Today, is her birthday.....just to let everyone know. Happy Birthday, Wendy!}

Pardon this dreadful picture of us. I believe I had just pushed him in the lake. And, as you can see, I accepted the consequences.
This is something we are working on. Padre has a long list of reasons for wearing socks with sandals. We all say there is no reason on the green earth legit enough for that nonsense.
But hey, if that's what it takes for a day at the lake,
we're game.

Don't mess

Bet you've never seen a flag football team this hot. Nope. You haven't. These are the Foxy Grandmas and they pretty much dominated them some BYU-I football this season.
{Except for that last game where they lost by one point. But we're not talking about that.}We found that talking like gangstas and dressing in black really improved our game. That's probably why we were undefeated until the end. Gangsters are like that.

And here you see the BYU-I spring soccer champs, the Tortugas.
Yes, I am married to one of them. No, don't be jealous.
Lucky dogs, got the sexy champion shirts and all. And that husband?
He scored some serious goals this season.
Just one more reason to love summertime.

You wanna move in with us?

I have just created us a beautiful new house. It is spacious. It is cozy. Everything matches. It is clean. It is glamorous and classy.
Unfortunately, it is on Pinterest. (click to have your mind blown.)
It looks like this:

This right here is a serious upgrade from our current homework space.
Considering I will most likely change our bedroom a good 50 times throughout our marriage, I think this would be a nice place to start.

I have a small obsession with sparkly little details.
Oh, and chandeliers too. Small obsession.

Because high school English teachers most definitely need an office like this.And a place to read like this.
You know, for the little sports-obsessed Hansen boys that will come along one day.
And a place to host tiny tea parties for tiny imaginary guests.A dreamy little day-bedroom.
Since we will be rich someday,
we will need a closet like this to house all of our finer clothing and such.
I am hoping Tyboy will use his mad business skills to make us a million bucks so all of this can be ours. That sounds greedy you say?
Tell me you don't wanna take a bath in this everyday for the rest of your life.
Go ahead, tell me.

Just a little dream I thought I'd share with you.

For now, we are pretty happy in our oh, say 600 square feet apartment.
It's just nice.
And cozy.
And home.
